Press Releases:
San Francisco - The U.S. Department of Justice
(DOJ) turned to Advanced Courtroom Technologies, Inc. (ACT) to provide
a state-of-the-art demonstrative presentation system for the antitrust
case of the century, U.S. v. Microsoft. Judge Penfield Jackson's
courtroom was recently retrofitted by ACT with numerous monitors
and a sophisticated LCD projection system that were all connected
through switching equipment to a DOJ computer, Laserdisc player,
and ELMO. In fact, a one-of-a-kind electronic podium was constructed
for this trial, only days prior to opening statements.
Bill Smith, the President and founder of ACT, states that "This
is one of the most sophisticated electronic courtroom presentation
systems ever used in a trial." Bill Smith also states that, "These
types of systems allow all parties to plug their computers and other
devices into the display monitors that can be controlled at either
the podium or the counsel's table." Bill Smith goes on to state
that, "We have found that these presentation systems tend to accelerate
trials and allow Jurors and Judges to absorb and retain more of
the information."
ACT, a Bay Area company based in Sausalito, California, was founded
by Bill Smith in 1995. ACT is a leader in electronic courtroom presentations
locally and nationwide, providing its clients with the ability to
make powerful presentations by integrating document images, exhibits,
photos, graphics, video and animations into a seamless presentation.
ACT retrofits courtrooms with electronic presentation systems both
on a permanent and an ad hoc basis.
